What to Do if You are an FCmobilelife Windows Mobile User

If you are going to use FCmobilelife on a Windows Mobile phone, then you will need to do the following:

  1. Configure Alerts
  2. Download the Windows Mobile client
  3. Start using FCmobilelife with the help of the Quick Start Guide

Configure Alerts

The FCmobilelife server can alert you when you have new or updated actions. These alerts can be sent either to a phone client running FCmobilelife (and not seen directly by you), or as visible reminders to you. You can choose from three styles of alerts depending on your preferences and where you run the FCmobilelife application.

To configure Alerts:

  1. As a Windows Mobile client user, you will probably want to select alerts that are sent directly to your Windows Mobile phone. You may also want to receive email alerts on your PC.
  2. Login to:

  3. From the menu bar at the top of the browser screen choose My Account -> Update Alert Preferences

Download the Windows Mobile Client

Before you install FCmobilelife on your Windows Mobile phone, you must set your device to the correct time zone.

Setting the Correct Time Zone on Your Windows Mobile phone device

You will need to ensure that your Windows Mobile phone is configured in the correct time zone before installation of FCmobilelife. To do this from the home screen on your Windows Mobile phone:

  1. Select Start -> Settings.
  2. On Windows Mobile 5.0 phones select the System tab
  3. Select the Clock & Alarms application
  4. In the time zone box, select the down arrow to bring up time zone choices.
  5. Use the scroll bar to find your time zone and select it.
  6. Select OK to confirm the change.

Installing FCmobilelife on your Windows Mobile Phone

You can install FCmobilelife on your Windows Mobile phone device in one of two ways:

NOTE: First time installation is less complicated if connected to a Windows PC and we recommend that if you do not have all the pre-required software already installed on your mobile phone that you choose this method.

Install Using a Windows Mobile Phone connected to a Windows PC

Requirements for Windows Mobile users connected to a Windows PC

Microsoft ActiveSync 4.5

You will need Microsoft ActiveSync 4.5 or later on your PC. You can check to see if Microsoft ActiveSync is installed on your Windows PC by clicking Start -> All Programs. If Microsoft ActiveSync appears in the list then launch it and click Help -> About Microsoft ActiveSync to view the version that is installed on your Windows PC.

Installation for Windows Mobile Users Connected to a Windows PC

To install FCmobilelife on a Windows Mobile phone that is connected to a Windows PC do the following:

  1. Connect your Windows Mobile phone to your PC using a USB cable. You should see the ActiveSync application open on your PC and connect to your Windows Mobile phone
  2. Open a browser Windows on your PC and download and run:

  3. Follow the prompts in the FCmobilelife Setup Wizard to complete the installation.

NOTE: The installer will also install the following additional components, which are required by FCmobilelife, if they are not already installed on your phone:

  • Microsoft .NET Compact Framework 2.0 SP1
  • Microsoft Corp. Extended DST Update
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition

NOTE: During the installation process, please pay attention to the prompts that will appear on your Windows PC and your Windows Mobile phone, as you will be asked to confirm the installation of the application software on your phone.

NOTE: The installation may reboot your Windows Mobile phone as part of the installation process.

Install Using a Windows Mobile Phone not connected to a Windows PC

Requirements for Windows Mobile users who do not connect to a PC

Daylight Saving Time 2007 Update

  1. Your Windows Mobile phone should have the Daylight Saving Time 2007 Update installed. You can check if the update is installed as follows:
    1. Select Start -> Settings
    2. Select the System tab
    3. Select Remove Programs
  2. If "Microsoft Corp. Extended DST Up..." does not appear in the list then the please see

Microsoft .NET Compact Framework 2.0 SP1 or Later

1. Your Windows Mobile Device should have the Microsoft .NET Compact Framework 2.0 SP1 or later installed. You can check to see if the update is installed as follows:

  1. Launch the File Explorer and in the \Windows folder run the utility:
  2. cgacutil.exe

  3. This will display a window that includes text similar to this:
  4. Microsoft(R) .NET
    Compact Framework
    [2.0.6129.0, 1.0.4292.2]

  5. The above tells you that the major version of the .NET Compact Framework on your phone is:
  6. 2.0 (.6129.0)

    and that the Service Pack version is:

    1.0 (.4292.2)

To install FCmobilelife on a Windows Mobile phone that is not connected to a Windows PC do the following:

  1. Select Start -> programs
  2. Select Internet Explorer
  3. Enter the URL

  5. Select ok when the installation is complete
  6. Exit from Internet Explorer

Download and Install the BlackBerry Mobile Client

Before you install FCmobilelife on your BlackBerry Smartphone, do the following:

Configure your BlackBerry Smartphone Phone for the Correct Time Zone.

You will need to ensure that your BlackBerry Smartphone phone is configured in the correct time zone before installation of FCmobilelife. To do this:

  1. From the Home screen, click Options.
  2. From the Options screen, click Date/Time
  3. With the Time Zone field already selected, click and and select the desired time zone.
  4. Press the Menu button and choose Save to save your changes.

Enable Reception of Alerts for your BlackBerry Smartphone Phone

If you have selected alerts to be sent to your BlackBerry phone regarding new and updated actions then you will need to configure the BlackBerry Internet Service ( BIS) on the BlackBerry device. For details on the BlackBerry Internet Service please see

If you don’t have BIS configured for your phone then please consult your Smartphone documentation or contact your wireless service provider for details on setting up the service.

Once the service is set up, you will receive real time alerts to your BlackBerry phone.

Installing FCmobilelife on your BlackBerry Smartphone

You can install FCmobilelife on your BlackBerry Smartphone "over the air" (OTA) using the browser that is part of the application set on your Smartphone. Installation via USB cable using the BlackBerry Desktop Manager is not supported at this time.

To install FCmobilelife on a BlackBerry Smartphone do the following:

  1. Click the Browser icon from the Home screen.
  2. Press the Menu button on the BlackBerry keypad and click on Go to...
  3. If your BlackBerry Smartphone is a trackball device, enter the URL:

  4. If your BlackBerry Smartphone is a Click Wheel device, enter this URL:

  5. If you entered the URL correctly you will see name, version,vendor and size information for FCmobilelife and you will asked to select Download or Cancel. Click Download.
  6. When the download completes you will get this message: "The application was successfully installed."
  7. Click OK to return to the browser.

To exit the browser press the Menu button and select Close to return to the Home screen.
